  • 9x13-inch Baking Dish
  • Oven

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 bag frozen cheese ravioli about 25 oz
  • 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 24 oz marinara sauce store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese shredded, divided
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • fresh parsley chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish and set aside.
  • Step 2: In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef or Italian sausage. Drain excess grease, add marinara sauce, and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Step 3: In a mixing bowl, stir together ricotta cheese, sour cream, Parmesan, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  • Step 4: Spread half the frozen ravioli in the baking dish. Layer with half the ricotta mixture, then half the meat sauce. Top with 1 cup mozzarella. Repeat all layers and finish with remaining mozzarella on top.
  • Step 5: Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake another 10–15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly with golden spots.
  • Step 6: Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.

Notes

Substitute cottage cheese for ricotta if preferred. Use plant-based cheese and meat for a vegetarian version. For extra kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the meat sauce.
