Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Deep Skillet or Pan
  • Tongs or Slotted Spoon
  • Paper Towels

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 cup cooked shrimp finely chopped (or use whole small shrimp)
  • 2 green onions finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp soy sauce
  • 20 wonton wrappers
  • 1 egg beaten, for sealing
  • vegetable oil for frying
  • chopped chives or green onions for garnish
  • sweet chili sauce for dipping

Instructions

  • Step 1: In a medium bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese, chopped shrimp, green onions, garlic powder, and soy sauce until fully combined.
  • Step 2: Place a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Add about 1 teaspoon of filling to the center.
  • Step 3: Brush the edges with beaten egg. Fold into a triangle or pouch shape and press firmly to seal.
  • Step 4: Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C). Fry the wontons in batches for 2–3 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
  • Step 5: Remove wontons and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  • Step 6: Garnish with chopped chives or green onions and serve hot with sweet chili sauce.

Notes

For a baked version, brush wontons lightly with oil and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 12–15 minutes until golden. Use crab or imitation crab for a seafood variation!
